THE GLORY, DESTRUCTION AND REVIVAL OF TEMPLES OF KAILAASA
Temples are the core of “Kailaasa” — the enlightenment ecosystem that was setup by Paramashiva on the Planet thousands of years ago and which was destroyed through multiple invasions and degradation. Temples are like powerful satellite stations that radiate the Cosmic energy to the vicinity.
The intense Cosmic Energy is available in these temples because of the enlightened beings who reside there in their Jeeva Samadhi. His Divine Holiness defines, “Jeeva Samadhi is a place where an enlightened Master’s mortal frame is laid to rest once he decides to shed the body and enters into Samadhi, like Raghavendra Swami, Palaya Swamigal of Thanjavur, Dakshinamurthi Swamigal of Tiruvarur and Paramahamsa Yogananda.” The great Incarnations including Devi Meenakshi Parashakti and Bhagavan Sundareshwara Paramashiva, who are the embodiments of Parashakti and Paramashiva (the embodiments of Divine Feminine energy and Supreme Consciousness) all have a Jeeva Samadhi in their respective temples.
The powerful spiritual vibrations present in these places are so palpable that even the most casual visitor can feel its effects in the form of peace, bliss or clarity. When maintained properly using the subtle powers of mantras (chants), rituals and meditation, temples can hold and radiate the energy for thousands of years. Like an inexhaustible battery, these temples continue to discharge spiritual energy to seekers. His Divine Holiness also revealed that the temple towers had multiple uses including astral travel and generation of electricity and other forms of energy needed to run the operations of its engulfing city.
THE DESTRUCTION OF TEMPLES
When a Mughal invasion was impending on the sacred city of Varanasi, Northern India, located on the banks of the sacred River Ganga, six aghoris (powerful Hindu monks who have mastered spiritual depth and consciousness) took it up to protect the deity of the Sri Vishwanatha Temple. Knowing the invaders were determined to destroy and defile their sacred sentiments, they were ready to sacrifice anything for their Lord. In the quiet of the night, the six aghoris took the main deity, surrounded it with their bodies and jumped into the Vaipi Well nearby to the temple, in order to safeguard Sri Vishwanatha forever. The deity was recovered years later, restored in the temple and the six aghoris were miraculously found still alive using their yogic powers (powers attained through Oneness with the Supreme Consciousness — Bhagavan Paramashiva) and protecting the deity!
In the temple of Sri Rangam, located in Southern India, a Rudrakanya (chaste female devotee of Bhagavan Paramashiva who is devoted entirely to the temple and in Oneness with Paramashiva) named Velliammal sacrificed her life by enticing and leading the Chief Sultan from a nearing guerilla group to the top of the temple tower from where she averted the impending bloodshed and destruction by sending him down from the top of the tower to his very death. Then, to preserve her chastity, lest she was caught and taken hostage by the tribe, she too jumped off the tower and saved the temple of Sri Rangam from invasion.
Hindu history is dotted with similar heart wrenching sacrifices that protected the powerful deities of the temples from the barbaric invaders though not adequate enough given the hugeness of the temples and the massive force of the invaders. While many deities were protected, huge destruction of temples, deities and plunder of temple wealth happened.
BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD CENTERED AROUND THE TEMPLE
His Divine Holiness Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam chose the temple town of Tiruvannamalai in South India to happen in the human form. This town is the home of the Arunachaleshwara Temple, the largest (by square feet) and oldest Paramashiva (Lord of Supreme Consciousness) temple in India. His Divine Holiness recalls His cognition as a child, “I only know one thing in my life: the most important thing is the Arunachaleshwara Temple — where the whole day I play and where I live!”
Every morning, His Divine Holiness would meet the priests of the temple and assist in waking up the main deity and every night He would be a part of the procession around the temple for the deities until the last rituals of the day were complete. Upon the stone foundations of this very temple, His Divine Holiness had the ultimate Realization of Oneness with His Guru Arunagiri Yogishwara, who is Bhagavan Paramashiva Himself, who assumed the form of a young Sanyasi (monk) and played the role of the Guru of His Divine Holiness for 9 months when He was 11 years old.
THE GRAND REVIVAL OF TEMPLES
Today, His Divine Holiness has established more than 30 temples all over the world. Each of these temples offer a host of spiritual services to the community aligning to the Vedagamas (sacred Hindu Source texts). The temple is also a center for anna daan — or the serving of free, organic vegetarian food. It is a place for the community to congregate, to enrich each individual with rich culture, tradition and spiritual practices. Ultimately, it is fundamental in maintaining the enlightenment ecosystem for the Conscious growth of each devotee who enters.
His Divine Holiness has not only brought authentic temples to the western world in the United States, but also invested His time, money and energy into reviving the oldest heritage in India. He is rapidly reviving the ancient Hindu kingdoms which were centralized on temples as their focal point. Around these temples, the civilization as well as the Hindu monasteries called Aadheenams existed.
His Divine Holiness has received several awards and recognitions for reviving Kailaasa through all of its components, especially the temples..
